EATING
There are many various restaurants, fast-foods, cafes, bistros, snack bars, taverns and other places in Rijeka where you can enjoy your meal.
At the restaurants in the city you can easily find hearty meals for 30-60 kunas = 4 - 8 euro.
Tap water is clean and safe to drink in Rijeka.

Time zone: Croatia is in the Central European Time Zone (GTM+1).
WEATHER
Prepare your clothes for an extremely hot summer. We suggest you also take a shirt for a cold wind and fast rain which might happen some of the days.
EXCHANGE RATE
Please make sure that right upon your arrival you exchange some Croatian currency –HRK (kuna), which is necessary to pay the transportation and food. Currency can be exchanged at hotels, banks, private exchange offices and of course, at the airport.
Exchange rate is: 1 Euro = around 7,40 HRK. 1 USD = around 6,60 HRK.
Banks are open on week days from 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., and on Saturdays till 1 p.m.

Post offices are open from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. and on Saturdays until 1 p.m.
PHARMACY
Chemists/Pharmacies stay open during usual shopping hours, from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. The pharmacy “Centar” is open 24 hours a day; it is located in the city centre at Riva 18, which is near the beginning of the Korzo Street.
SHOPS
Common working hours are weekdays from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Saturdays until noon, occasionally on Sundays, until noon as well. Local food shops are open Monday to Saturday from 6 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., a few are open on Sundays, too. There are many supermarkets, which are somewhat cheaper than local shops. They are open from 7 a.m. till 9 p.m. and Sundays till 1 p.m.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT
To ride the public bus you need to buy a ticket. Public transport is divided into 4 zones. You will need ZONE 1 ticket / pass.
Options:
1. One way ticket – only from the bus driver. Payment is done in cash. The ticket can be used in one direction and the passengers have the right to change several buses but without exceeding the time limit for driving. Time limit for bus tickets for the first zone is 60 minutes. Price of the ticket = 10kn (~1.35 Eur).
2. Two directions tickets - can be purchased at kiosks and in stores of KD Autotrolej. Same rules and time for the One way ticket. = 15.50 kn (2 Eur)
3. Daily ticket - validate the ticket when you enter the bus and is valid 24 hours from the first use for an unlimited number of travels within the zone for which the ticket was purchased. = 20.00 kn (~2.70 Eur)
4. Weekly pass (Recommended) - This ticket has a holder's name and surname and may not be transferred. = 80,00 kn (~10 Eur)
All the tickets and pass (exception makes the one way ticket) have to be purchased from KDAutotrolej selling location on JELACIC SQUARE - open weekdays 6:30 to 19:30 pm, Saturday 7:30 to 16:30 pm.
Every bus station has a bus schedule. Therefore, you will know when the bus arrives at the station and at what hour you will arrive at the station wanted.
